Mike Bader, Executive Director
Prior to becoming the original co-founder of Alliance for the Wild Rockies in 1988, Mike was a National Park Ranger in Yellowstone National Park where he was involved in a wide array of activities including grizzly bear management and research, and wildland firefighting. He was also highly active in grassroots efforts to protect the Rocky Mountain Front and the Badger-Two Medicine area from oil and gas development. He is a frequent contributor to magazines, journals, and newspapers on public lands and wildlife issues, having authored dozens of articles. A graduate of the University of Montana with a B.S. in Resource Conservation, his major professional interests are ecosystem protection plans, grizzly bear research and management, and wildland fire. Recreational interests include woodworking, music, sports, cross-country skiing, backcountry hiking, and flyfishing.
