The Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA)
is the legislative realization of AWR's vision: bioregion-wide protection of the wildlands of the Northern Rockies. NREPA was reintroduced into the U.S. Congress on February 2, 1999, and assigned a bill number, 488, by the US House of Representatives. NREPA's current cosponsors.

Italian Peaks Roadless Area, on the Idaho-Montana border, is an important travel corridor for grizzlies and other wildlife. It will receive full wilderness protection under NREPA.

Please write your congressional representative and urge him or her to endorse H.R. 488, NREPA.

View the NREPA brochure at the Wild Rockies Action Fund's web site or request a brochure be sent to you.

Without the protection afforded by NREPA, wildlands will continue to be fragmented by roads, clearcuts, sprawl, and other development.

You can access the entire text of NREPA, H.R. 488, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, via the Library of Congress' web server. NREPA has endorsements from President Jimmy Carter, world-renowned scientists, and more than 700 organizations and businesses nationwide, including the national Sierra Club.

"It is our duty and obligation to protect and restore these national treasures as we have enjoyed them and been sustained by them physically, mentally, and spiritually."
-Former President Jimmy Carter
