Bioregion Spotlight: The Bull Trout

THE BULL TROUT holds a special place in our hearts here at AWR; you can see the mighty bull--and its terrestrial counterpart the grizzly--in our logo in the upper right corner of this page. The Bulls and Bears theme was chosen for our logo because these two animals are key indicator species in the Wild Rockies... their presence indicates healthy wildland ecosystems.

Each month our Bioregion Spotlight focuses on a unique area or species of the Wild Rockies. This month, you can read an account of how AWR and its member groups successfully fought to get the bull trout listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, and browse our Bull Trout Report that was part of the campaign to secure listing.

We thank all those who have assisted over the years with the bull trout campaign. We need to keep up the good work and ensure that this opportunity to save the bull trout and recover the watersheds of the Northwest is not wasted, but put to the utmost advantage. Contact AWR to learn what you can do to help this ongoing work.
