Grammy Award winning Indigo Girls and
Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Dar Williams and blues
band Indigenous, rocked across the state of
Montana in October 2000 to kickoff the fourth
Honor the Earth concert tour - Get Out the Indian
Vote and Save the Yellowstone Buffalo!Free
concerts and rallies on the Northern Cheyenne,
Blackfeet and Flathead reservations galvanized
nonpartisan voter registration and education
efforts led by Native Action and Indian Peoples
Action. Over 2,000 people attended the rallies
and thousands of Montanan’s registered to vote. Shows in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula
turned out 10,000 people. The tour bridged the work of, and brought together, Indian and environmental
communities, to protect America’s last wild buffalo herd.
