The US Forest Service plans to rip the heart out of the 76,000 acres of crucial biological corridor in the Cove/Mallard area. By punching in 145 miles of new roads and hauling out 16,000 truckloads of timber (82 million board feet), they will decimate this vital ecosystem.
This taxpayer rip off calls for over 200 clearcuts of publicly owned national forest. The Forest Service is breaking its own environmental laws and irreparably fragmenting the Greater Salmon-Selway ecosystem.
The Cove/Mallard Coalition is committed to defending America's Big Wild, and needs your help! The coalition is made up of a diverse group of organizations and individuals. We are the only folks determined to utilize direct action/civil disobedience tactics to insure protection for IdahoŒs wild heart.
Our lawsuit against the feds, idaho county sheriffs, Shearer Lumber, and Highland Enterprise for the attack on our support camp in 1998 has entered a critical phase. We will be doing depositions of a bunch of complacent cops, government officials, and corporate employee and CEOs this August. Judge Boyle the same man that convicted and sentenced all the activists from Otter-Wing and Mackey Day is our Judge. Not a very positive situation you might say. The Judge fined our lawyer $1,200.00 for not fully answering the discovery questions of Shear Lumber Products, while he only verbally reprimand Highland and Shearer for not answering ours.
This legal action is about protecting all activists from attacks, how the cops idly stand by, hoping the workers will remove our blockades and tree sits,then do nothing about it after it happens.
